This annual event is a blitz day for all intercounty u-14 academy players which will see 13 teams from six counties taking part. The participating players have been chosen after a selection process. •The first annual general meeting of the Galway Hurling Supporters Club will be held next Thursday (February 25) at the Lough Rea Hotel, Loughrea, Co Galway at 8pm. The club, which was set up last year, already boasts more than 600 members, and chairman Eamon Bradshaw is hoping this will increase to more than 2,000 this year. Bradshaw is calling on everyone interested in hurling to attend the AGM where officers will outline its activities during 2009, financial support for the Galway hurling reams, members aspirations for 2010, planned events during 2010, and benefits for members. The club has its own website, www.ghsc.ie, which has attracted hits from all over the world.

With Galway's 44th Connacht title secured, all focus switches to club action next weekend as the Claregalway Hotel Galway SFC resumes. There are no more second chances for the 18 sides that remain in contention for the Frank Fox Cup. In total, seven senior ties are down for decision including the eagerly awaited clash of Caltra and Moycullen, while county champions Killererin take on Cortoon Shamrocks in the weekend's other stand-out tie.
